Reflection 3 Chapter 9-12

What and How to think(Key Idea)

Obviously, groundswell happens between customers while more companies realized employees are also their groundswell. Some of these applications came from management and others began as skunk-works projects, but what they have in common is this: they tap the power of the groundswell of idea among the people who know best how your business runs, your employees. In a long time, companies run business with their customers and focus on relationship with customers and implemented it on new products or improving products, but there is a smarter and quicker way to operate company when put powers in the hands of employees. This is what Chapter 11 wanted to illustrate, and used examples such as Best Buy, avenue/razorfish and Bell Canada.


Revolution is accomplished due to groundswell, like Del Monte foods, they change their product from dog food to package design. Dog lovers are happy to talk about their dogs and concern dogs as their families. Dogs are humans, like what they said about it, Del Monte do contents like dogs' thinking. Chapter 9 and 10 visualized what is going on with embracing groundswell and transform company.

With a bright future established by author, a common day in groundswell, we could find out that traditional methods are out of date. We could not deny that there are also possibilities that groundswell is going to out of date in the same time we are learning it.




What and How to do(Strategy)

The key points in groundswell illustrated people, leadership, pace, support and steps. We do everything with individuals, and this book showed how to communicate with customers on a proper way or we could just name the method, social media. People are essential factors on operating strategies. Leaders are including in factors of people. With proper leader on project such as Lionel Menchaca, achievements could completed in amazing way.


Permission of board is fundamental factors when operating groundswell through companies, and the best way of it is bottoms to top. Taking slow pace and start small transfer minds of employee in unexpected way.

Here is an example about Market Basket, and this little family run loyalty not only between customers but also employees. The protest went successful on pushing board to change CEO and this is an awesome groundswell not only happens on Social Media, but community around New England.
