In the one hand, we benefit from the booming of technology,
in the other hand, too much information bothers our decisions. A friend of mine
told me a good idea of getting news from outside. The method is that do not use or read news,
listen to your friends’ talking, then you got news that matters you. Of course,
if everyone uses this method, there will be no news. In fact, it does help me a
lot in the first time.
In real life, we want information other than news, but also evaluation of
books, movies and music. Then I remember an old app, douban.

It was designed by Bo Yang in a hutong named Douban in
Beijing. This is a combination of music, film and books that can share comments
with others. The calculation of douban would know your favorites after you add
or view films and articles. Douban would send you notification of “douban guess you like”. Basically, it would attract people that have same tastes. They also held activities in real life. Network of groups under line generates much more than what individuals expected. This is an online community that created with python. It is the first website that using python as coding language. " it is a finding that based on interests of life." said as "abei" - the nick name of Bo yang.
At the beginning of Douban, it is only a website that let users share comments or mark books that they did not read and want to exchange with others, but nowadays Douban films become the most authority evaluation system in China. It could even direct the market of Movies. Then let us explore more in film evaluation. The system of Douban are supported by users, so the evaluation of music are all from real people, there would have no corporations that control the result. So when a movie got score that above 8, it means this is a pretty good one, and when it got points over 8.5, it means this is one deserve your time and wonderful one.
movies that translate into Chinese or made in China.
to be continue.

Hi Arnold,
ReplyDeleteThis reminds my of Rotten Tomatoes or IMDB, both are US movie apps/websites that rate movies based on critics and users that used the 1%-100% rating scale. It's interesting that Douban recommends your movie from a one on one standpoint, like how it sends you a notification, "Douban thinks you like..." It kind of hooks you into the app and makes you wonder what the app thinks you like. Really cool!
That is really true, when we consider a movie we also see the review from Rotten Tomatoes, so, yeah, it is kind of same thing.
